More About Me

I was introduced to sewing at an early age as my mom made all my sister's and my clothes. Starting in junior high, at the beginning of each school year, we would go shopping with a pencil and paper. I would sketch the clothes I liked and mom would go home and make them. As she was a tailoring teacher, clothes construction was second nature to her. My school clothes, prom dresses, coats -all were the envy of my friends.
I am the mother of four beautiful daughters and I sewed for them when they were young. I taught Stretch and Sew for several years and loved the creativity it brought to the seamstress.
I love to paint. I met so many creative people at art shows that I began to dabble in jewelry making, needlework, anything that would allow me to create something unusual. This is where my interest led me to Christopher's classes.

Now the Real Work Begins

Tulsa

Tulsa
Christopher had a demo at the B-Sew-Inn in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I drove from Memphis to Branson to pick up my mom and we headed off to Oklahoma! KaRon from the Tulsa store first showed me the embellisher at the Martha Pullen Heirloom Sewing expo in Rogers, Arkansas last year. Needless to say, I bought one and it was good to see KaRon again as well as all the wonderful staff Mary Hess has at the Tulsa store. It is the largest Babylock store in the country. Be sure to look at the slides I took and also check out Christopher's website for more pictures! The girls were treated to a two-day, hands-on demo and learning extravaganza with Christopher leading the way. George (another of his certified teachers) and I were there to give a hand and help guide them through silk punching, ribbon punching, painting, free-motion stitching with metallic thread and making flowers and leaves - just to name a few. It was a real treat to get to use the new 12-needle embellisher and those wonderful BabyLock machines. I came home with a new 12-needle embellisher, but I'm keeping my old one, too! Christopher showed us one of his celebrity bags from his new book coming out next year and - guess what - he gave it to Mary Hess! We got to see it up close and I can tell you that book will be wonderful! He has incorporated everything you could want in a gorgeous bag - zippered pockets, great designs! We got to see two of the many that will be featured. Be watching his website for more sneak peeks!

Poppies on Parade
I'm working on this pillow a little at a time. Other projects keep getting in the way! I love the bright red color! I think I will add another bud with some red coming out - have to figure out how to do that first!! Keep watching to see what I do!

I finally finished it!
This will be a pillow for my mom's sofa in her new house. Keep watching - surely I will finish it soon!

Meeting Christopher at Sally Cheney's

I got to meet Christopher for the first time at Sally's event in Madison, TN. For two days I sat mesmerized while he wowed the audience with all his knowledge and enthusiasm, empowering all who were there to go home and create something beautiful!

Down Another Road

Down Another Road
Matthew the Master Spy. My grandson, Matthew, wanted a "spy outfit" for his 6th birthday. I used an old trench coat to make this for him. It was a nice break from pillow punching, but not for long................
